Barton Health’s Rehabilitation Services has created a program to reduce injuries and maximize your bike performance by educating cyclists on comfort and safety with the Barton ProBikeFit Program.
Jason Collin, Barton physical therapist and professional bike fitter, is dedicated to helping cyclists decrease common injuries and reduce or eliminate back, neck, and knee pain. He says a precise bike fit is a crucial factor in every rider’s comfort, performance and safety, as they take to the roads and trails for commuting, leisure or even racing.
“From the beginning rider to the elite racer, cyclists share three common goals such as optimizing power, increasing comfort and improving performance,” Collin said.
Barton’s ProBikeFit combines the science of cycling and biomechanics to accomplish these goals.
“When the bike fits the rider perfectly we see less injuries and the riders perform better and enjoy cycling more. We want Lake Tahoe be a sustainable biking community so this is one way we can help out,” he said.
Every ProBikeFit includes the assessment of posture, flexibility, range of motion, strength, balance and pedaling mechanics.
“It is important to always check your equipment before you ride and to always ride in control,” Collin said. “Our main goal is to help all riders feel more comfortable and confident as they take to the roads and trails.”
