Barton Health is pleased to welcome internal medicine physician, Dr. Allison Steinmetz to its medical staff.
Dr. Steinmetz joins Barton Internal Medicine after ten years of medical practice in Santa Cruz, California with Dominican Hospital. Prior to practicing in Santa Cruz, Dr. Steinmetz spent three years as a physician in Houston, Texas.
She graduated from the Tulane University School of Medicine in 1996 and completed her internship and residency at the University of Texas, Houston in 2000. Dr. Steinmetz is a board certified physician by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
“I enjoy finding the balance of traditional medicine and alternative therapies to treat the whole person based on their preferences,” Dr. Steinmetz said. “My goal is to be able to treat families and help them with their medical decisions.”
She serves as a primary care physician for all ages with a specific talent for treating adolescent and women’s health issues.
Her enthusiasm for the outdoors is what brought her here to Tahoe. She enjoys snow sports, hiking and surfing. She has two young children who are also eager to participate in the great outdoors.
Dr. Steinmetz joins Internal Medicine physicians, Drs. Gary Cooper, Paula Crenshaw, and Jay Chung, as well as Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, Dr. Ronald Roth at 2175 South Avenue in South Lake Tahoe across the street from Barton Memorial Hospital. She is accepting adolescent and adult new patients.
