Last evening around 5 p.m., the decision was made to evacuate our Skilled Nursing residents to Carson Valley Residential Care in Gardnerville. We had 39 patients who were transferred as a precautionary measure. The move was well orchestrated and went very smoothly with the vechicles provided by Blue Go and Heavenly. The residents were reestablished before dinner time and will remain at that location for a few days.
We have cancelled all surgeries for today and will evaluate each day as the situation changes. Barton's emergency room is open without restrictions.
Although we have no plans, at this time, to evacuate the acute patients, we have taken proactive measures to secure 2 critical care ambulances from Sacramento and are working on additional transportation modes for the remaining 20 patients. Those transportation vehicles will be on-site should the need arise to transfer all patients.
We have been informed that there is concern about the winds projected to pick up just after noon today.
