Join Dr. Kyle Swanson, orthopedic surgeon and Kris Terrain, certified athletic trainer, from Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine on Wednesday, April 27, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community College in the Aspen Room.
“The talk will consist of shoulder anatomy and common injuries; including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, dislocations and arthritis of the shoulder,” Dr. Swanson said.
Dr. Swanson sees about 500 patients and completes more than 125 shoulder surgeries a year. He and Terrain will discuss both non-operative and operative treatments of the shoulder. The majority of Dr. Swanson’s medical practice is sports medicine-based; however, he also treats a significant amount of bone and pediatric trauma.
“Most people that live in the Tahoe area are active and many activities here involve using the shoulder such as swimming, golfing and snowboarding among others,” he said. “Most injuries are overuse injuries which are related to poor mechanics or conditioning.”
This shoulder injury presentation is just one of many educational opportunities geared toward educating the community about living healthful lifestyles.
