The Total Joint Team at Tahoe Center for Orthopedics is proudly delivering comprehensive, high-quality services to our guests that receive total joint replacements. This multidisciplinary team of experienced physicians, physician assistants, medical assistants, nurses, therapists, case managers and aides jump into action as soon as the surgeon and patient decide to schedule a surgery.
The goal is a seamless, integrated plan for the patient from start to finish. It all begins in the doctor's office where patients receive a consultation and a "joint book" explaining what to expect with their joint surgery – from pre-operative testing to getting back on their feet. The coordinated effort then continues with a pre-operative educational class, home safety assessment and personalized guidance right up to the day of surgery. After the surgical team restores the joint(s), the nursing and rehabilitation team on the orthopedic floor work closely to ensure the patient's hospital post-operative stay goes as smoothly as possible. In most cases, the patient heads home after just three days. Thereafter, the Barton Home Health team continues to manage their medical needs, mobility progression and independence with daily activities. Then the patient is about ready to join out-patient rehabilitation team as they put the finishing touches on their recovery, so the patient can return to normal everyday activities.
TCO's goal is to get our patients back to the activities and lifestyle they desire as quickly and safely as possible. Thanks to the team at Barton Health for helping patients in the community and beyond get back to doing what they love most.
