Barton Foundation Community Health Grants

2018 Barton Health Grants

Collective Impact for a Healthier South Lake Tahoe

In an effort to positively impact the health of everyone in our community, Barton Health is providing grant funds for programs and organizations that benefit those populations that are underserved and/ or will have the greatest impact on the health of our community at large.

In this grant cycle, we will be considering programs that address our community’s most pressing health needs as identified by Barton Health’s 2015 Community Health Needs Assessment.* In order of priority they are: Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Tobacco Use, and Access to Healthcare Services. In addition, the following factors will be considered when reviewing applications:

  • Priority will be given to programs aimed at breaking cycles of negative behavior for young people up to age 26 years old
  • The educational benefit of the project/program
  • The long-term impact of the project/program
  • Is the program innovative vs. duplicative of existing programs?
  • Does the project/program inspire collaboration?
  • The need of the population served and the cost per person served

In this round of funding we will be offering $50,000. The objective is to fund projects that serve a large subset of our community. Typically between 8 and 10 organizations are awarded, so keep that in mind when determining the amount of your grant request.

Barton Health Grant proposals are reviewed by the Barton Community Advisory Committee and the final grant recipients will be approved by the Barton Foundation Board of Trustees. Funding for Barton Health Grants is provided by Barton Health through a gift from the Barton Foundation.
