Suggested Health Screenings

While maintaining a healthy lifestyle and understanding your family's medical history are important factors for determining your health risks, having an annual health care visit is a great opportunity to take charge of your health. Routine health care visits can help find problems early or prevent health problems before they occur. If problems are found early, they may be easier to treat and less likely to pose serious risks to your health.

Annual health care visits include discussion of health topics related to your age, a physical exam, screening tests, and immunizations, as well as general health, hygiene, nutrition, exercise, and more. Follow this schedule for health screenings:

For Men Ages 18 And Older

 Exam, Test or Procedure   Frequency 
 Colonoscopy  Ages 50+: Every 10 years
 Influenza (Flu) Immunization  All ages (six months and older): Annually 
 Lab - Fasting Complete Blood Count (CBC), Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP) & Chemical Urinalysis  Ages 18-39: Every five years
 Ages 40+: Every two years
 Lab - Screen for Lipid Panel  Ages 50+: Every three years 
 Lab - PSA Blood Test  Ask your physician 
 Physical Exam - Includes items such as abdomen, heart, height, weight, neck, vision/color, hearing (forced whisper), blood pressure, pelvic, rectal, prostate rectal exam, hemoccult (stool occult blood), testicles, groin  Ages 18-39: Every two years
 Ages 40+: Annually
 Pneumovax® (Pneumonia) Immunization  Ages 65+: One time (or more, depending on long-term health problems) 
 Shingles Immunization   Ages 60+: One time 
 TB Skin Test   For patients at high risk 
 Tetanus (Td) or Tdap if indicated   Ages 30+: Every 10 years 

For Women Ages 18 And Older
