Barton Health Community Benefit Report

Barton Health, Barton Memorial Hospital and our affiliated physician offices are continuously striving to provide high quality medical services to our patients in the Lake Tahoe region. In addition to the quality care we provide, Barton Health embarks on numerous community wellness programs every year, in addition to providing funding to local organizations and programs through Barton Foundation health grants and Barton Auxiliary scholarships.

Our Community Benefit Report details the programs and support services Barton funds to build a healthy community in South Lake Tahoe. Focused on access to care, the report has topics such as patient-centered care, technology, supporting our youth, future goals and community wellness.

To Our Community

I am so proud of the work the dedicated team at Barton is putting forth to care for our community. Not only are our providers, staff and hospital volunteers committed to providing consistently exceptional care, but they host support groups, volunteer at local sporting events, educate the community through our monthly Wellness Lecture Series and much more. I know the health and well-being of our community is in good hands, because I have the honor to work alongside them every day.

Many accomplishments were realized in 2017, several devoted to improving the quality of care we provide, including becoming a Blue Distinction® Center for Maternity Care, recognition by the Society for Technology in Anesthesia for our capnography program, and implementing a family educational center to help ensure best possible patient outcomes.

Additionally, construction continued in 2017 on the Robert Maloff Center, which will house the Barton Center for Orthopedics & Wellness; 26,000 square feet of coordinated, patient-centered care. The Center will focus on a patient’s individual journey not only from injury through recovery, but also on proactive care and chronic condition management. I am excited for the community to utilize the Center and actively engage with our health coaches on your path to being well and living well.

Finally, Barton Health is very fortunate to be supported by both the Barton Foundation and Barton Auxiliary, both of which provide valuable contributions not only to our organization, but also to our community through various scholarships and grants. Last year, the Barton Foundation’s annual Gala and Festival of Trees and Lights raised funds benefiting our mental health programs. And in addition to volunteering thousands of hours at the hospital and other Barton facilities, the Barton Auxiliary donated a brand-new 3D Mammography machine to be housed within the new Barton Women’s Suite.

Barton is committed to lead the charge in our community’s health, but we cannot achieve these goals alone. We have immense gratitude for the commitment of the partners involved in this effort, and look forward to together creating a healthier community in 2018 and beyond.

Sincerely,
Clint Purvance, MD
President and Chief Executive Officer
