Barton Health participates in several venues to offer information and educational opportunities for those interested in healthcare careers. Below is a list of some of the activities available:

  • Healthcare Career Internship
    This 4-week program is offered each summer and is available to graduating high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. Students work with preceptors in 12 clinical departments to obtain exposure to a wide array of career opportunities. Please click here for more information regarding this program

  • Phlebotomy Program
    This program is offered annually through Lake Tahoe Community College. Instruction is offered by Barton staff. Certification can be obtained by passing a state sponsored exam. Please visit www.ltcc.edu for more information or to sign up for classes.

  • Medical Programs
    Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) offers many different healthcare related courses including: Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, Medical Office Assistant, Medical Terminology, and many more. Barton provides staff and funding. Check out the LTCC web site for more information or to sign up for classes.

  • Barton University
    Barton University classes are available for registration to employees, physicians and community members through our online learning management system. Employees and physicians should log in immediately to browse and register for scheduled offerings, view learning plans and access learning history. Community members are welcome to browse for classes before creating an account. If you have already created an account, please log in with your current account information.   • Community Education
    Barton University offers a wide range of courses that are open for community registration, including:
    -American Heart Association Courses
    -Childbirth Education
    -Conferences and Events
    -Specialty Nursing Continuing Education

  • Medical Assistant Program
    This 6 month hybrid program prepares students to perform a variety of clinical and administrative duties as a Medical Assistant. Students admitted into the Medical Assistant Program will be eligible to complete a 6 month student internship at a participating Barton Health clinic. Upon graduation, students will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to take the Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) exam through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
