Barton Memorial Hospital Receives Three “A’s” for Patient Safety
South Lake Tahoe, CA – Today the Leap Frog Group, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health care system, released the new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. Hospitals nationwide are assigned an A, B, C, D or F letter grade. Barton Memorial Hospital was one of 823 hospitals to receive an “A” for its commitment to reducing errors, infections, and accidents. This is the third consecutive “A” Barton Hospital has received.
“Receiving three A’s for patient safety shows Barton Health’s physicians and staff’s dedication to providing a safe and compassionate experience for our patients,” said Dawn Evans, Barton’s Patient Safety Officer.
Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public.
“At Barton Health, patient safety not just a priority, but a value,” said Dr. Clint Purvance, CEO and President of Barton Health. “We appreciate our patients sharing their input and giving us the opportunity to create solutions that better serve our community.”
