Eating for Heart Health

The American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology emphasize a healthy, nutritious diet to play a tremendous role in lowering risk for heart attack and stroke. Plant-based and Mediterranean diets are singled out in the guidelines to help reduce or reverse obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

Include a high consumption of:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Legumes
  • Nuts
  • Whole Grains
  • Plant Protein or Lean Animal Protein, Preferably Fish

Meet with a cardiologist to discuss your specific risk factors and plan of care to improve your heart health. Barton Cardiology offers a comprehensive approach that addresses prevention, diagnosis, intervention or referral and rehabilitation; contact Barton Cardiology by calling 530.543.5497.
