Make An Indoor Herb Garden
Try making an herb garden to grow in your kitchen - herbs are a great way to add flavor to your cooking without adding sodium or fat!
Supplies
- Wide-mouth mason jars
- Rocks, gravel, pebbles, or marbles
- Potting mix, preferably moisture control
- Herb seeds of choice*
- Water
Instructions
- Add 1-2 inches of rocks, gravel, pebbles or marbles to your jar. Then fill the jar with potting mix, leaving space at the top for more potting mix (about 1 inch).
- Plant herbs seeds of choice* and top with a small handful of potting mix. Lightly water the top of the soil.
- Place indoors near a window or on a countertop that receives ample sunlight. Refer to each herbs' instructions for ongoing care and maintenance.
- Watch your herbs grow and enjoy a burst of flavor in your food when they are ready!
* Not all herbs will thrive in a glass jar for a long period of time, but this glass jar will be suitable as a garden starter! You can transfer your herbs to a larger pot with drainage once your seedlings take root.
