Emergency Response Fund
The Barton Foundation Emergency Response Fund assists Lake Tahoe community members experiencing economic hardships with basic needs, specifically food insecurity.
Caldor Fire
In September, the Emergency Response Fund was vital to getting funds into the hands of our community members experiencing economic hardships following the evacuations due to the Caldor Fire. We partnered with local non-profits to get assistance directly into the hands of those that needed it. As things got back to a sense of normality, we have paused our program and now are preparing for any future emergency needs in our community. Thank you to those who donated to make this program possible, and thank you to our community partners who helped us to distribute assistance to our community members.
COVID-19
In May, 2021, the Foundation’s COVID Response Fund resulted in over $420,000 donated to more than 6,000 residents impacted by COVID-19 in the South Lake Tahoe and Stateline areas. The grants were made possible by the generosity of hundreds of Barton Foundation donors who played a major role in providing financial assistance to members of the South Lake Tahoe community who were disproportionately impacted by the economic consequences of the pandemic.
