Setting A New Year's Resolution?

Follow a Health Coach's tips on setting a goal and action items for success:

  • Define your long-term health goals. Keeping in mind the good you are doing for your health and body will help you stay motivated, especially as the day-to-day effects may be small.
  • Identify your "WHY?" Why do you want to achieve this goal, and how do you want to fee when you've reached it?
  • Get clear and specific. Instead of saying, "Exercise more," identify the specific amount you want to exercise per week. The more specific you can be, the more you'll be able to track your progress and get back on course if you veer off.
  • Break down your goals into small actionable steps. This makes your overall goal more manageable to achieve, plus you'll feel great accomplishing each step along the way.
  • If you want to succeed, create accountability. Enlist a friend to make the same resolution as you, or share your goals with family and friends. They can keep you motivated to stay on track, and you can ask for help along the way.
