Barton Health is a non-profit community health system. As a non-profit corporation, there are no owners, and Barton does not issue shares. Revenue from services is invested back into the organization as well as the community to improve health and wellness.

The Board of Directors of Barton Health provides oversight and governance over the health system. Their hard work and dedication is very much appreciated. All Board members are required to be Barton Hospital Association members. Association members elect the board of directors. Association members are eligible to run for a board position. Association members are invited to an annual meeting where information is shared about what the hospital is currently doing as well as future direction.

Non-profit corporations often have memberships. The Barton Hospital Association is a private membership formed to raise funds to support the health system. Association Membership requires a $1,500 tax-deductible contribution through the Barton Foundation. Each qualifying person may purchase one association membership. Association membership requires resident status in either El Dorado or Douglas County for a 2-year period. The membership form should be completed and returned with your $1,500 per vote requested to Barton Foundation, 165 Hwy 50, Stateline, NV 89449.

Community members who wish to have additional involvement in the hospital could consider a membership in the Barton Hospital Association or volunteering through the Barton Auxiliary (the volunteer group serving the health system.)
