Medical Corps

Under the guidance of the California Department of Public Health, as well as national, state and local health authorities, Barton is prepared for a surge in patients seeking medical care. We are seeking anyone with a healthcare background or experience for clinical support. Additionally, there will be a need for non-clinical support staff to fill ancillary roles throughout the hospital.

Clinical Support

Barton Health is seeking retired or available physicians, nurses, EMTs, and other medical professionals with clinical expertise to work with the hospital as it prepares to treat an influx of patients expected during the coronavirus crisis. Clinical roles will be paid and retain malpractice insurance through the State of California. We need:

  • Physicians (MD, DO), including medical residents and students
  • Pharmacists
  • Dentists
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Physician assistants
  • Nurses (RN, LVN, CNA), including nursing students
  • Behavioral health professionals (psychiatrist, psychiatric technicians psychologist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, LCSW, LMFT, LPCC)
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Paramedics
  • Medical assistants
  • Emergency medical technicians

Persons interested in filling clinical roles should:

  1. Email
  2. Register with the California Health Corps website. (Under Organizations, select both "COVID-19 Response" AND "El Dorado County Unit"  - see example.)

The California Medical Services Authority has created California Health Corps Registration where a licensed and credentialed health professional can register to then be ready to serve at a moment’s notice; payment and malpractice insurance will be covered through the State of California for these clinical roles. This registry ensures your credentials are current and verified, resulting in an expedited process for activation, if you decide to accept an opportunity to participate in a clinical role at Barton Health.

When you request the Organization (COVID-19 Response/ El Dorado County Unit), every effort is made to ensure candidates are placed in their preferred location. If you are offered an assignment location outside of Barton Health and do not want to work at that location, you can notify California Health Corps Administrators or withdraw your application through the California Health Corps website.

Residents of Nevada who are interested in filling clinical roles in our Nevada offices should email, in addition to registering with State Emergency Registry of Volunteers-Nevada (SERV-NV).

Non-Clinical Support

Barton Health is also seeking non-clinical support to volunteer in a variety of roles across the organization if the health system experiences an influx of patients expected during the coronavirus crisis. Volunteer support roles may help check-in and direct patients, scribe for charting medical providers, etc.

The safety of our health care workers, employees, volunteers, in addition to patients and the community remains our top priority. Appropriate safety precautions will be in place to limit exposure and protect staff.

Persons interested in volunteering for non-clinical support roles should email
