Barton Health Grant Application Deadline Nearing

Barton Health Grants

(South Lake Tahoe, CA) In an effort to positively impact the health of our community the Barton Foundation has grant opportunities available for programs and organizations benefitting the South Lake Tahoe area. Barton Health Grants provide funding for programs targeted at underserved populations and/or providing great impact to the health status of the community. The total grant amount available for 2013 is set at $25,000 and is generally dispersed between five and ten local organizations. Grant proposals will be accepted through Friday, June 28, 2013 through the online application system or in person.

Programs considered this year will address the community’s most pressing health needs as identified in Barton’s 2012 Community Health Needs Assessment. In order of priority they are: substance abuse and tobacco use, access to healthcare services, and mental health.

Last year, Barton Foundation and Barton Health’s Community Advisory Committee (CAC) awarded $24,000 to nine South Lake Tahoe organizations to help fund health-related services and programs. The programs awarded addressed some of our area’s most pressing health needs such as nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. Since 2009, the CAC has awarded 35 grants to Lake Tahoe area non-profits through the Barton Foundation, totaling more than $98,000.

The Barton Health Grant proposals are reviewed by the CAC and the final grant recipients were approved by Barton Foundation’s Board of Trustees. The 2012 Barton Health Grant recipients were:
