Skilled Nursing Facility at Barton Earns Five-Star Rating
(South Lake Tahoe, CA) – Barton Health received a Five-star Overall Rating at its Skilled Nursing Facility, ranking it within the top 10 percent of California long-term care facilities in its category. This is the third accolade from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that Barton has received this year, along with a Four-star Rating in Patient Experience and Four-star Overall Rating for Barton Memorial Hospital.
“It is our pleasure to provide local, high quality care for our Skilled Nursing Facility residents as they have contributed so much to society,” said Melinda Brogna, RN, Barton SNF Director. “We consider these patients our extended family, and our compassionate team of caregivers work hard to provide a healthy and engaging environment for them.”
Barton’s Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) provides residential care for community members needing around-the-clock medical attention. As with all hospital-based convalescent centers, Barton SNF is continuously assessed by CMS in standardized categories: Health Inspection of its facility for federal regulations; Quality Measures of its patient care such as falls, infections, and medication administration; and Staffing, pertaining to the ratio of nurses and care providers to patients.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which provides health coverage to more than 100 million Americans and oversees federal healthcare programs including Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and the Health Insurance Marketplace through the Affordable Care Act.
Barton’s SNF has 48 beds in private and semi-private rooms and has been in operation since 1997. It provides 24-hour licensed staff, group and individual activities, entertainment and outings, volunteer programs, religious services and programs that maintain or improve independence.
